In all, 21 categories were up for grabs, and many of them were hotly contested. We started the awards process with a lengthy list of products for consideration in each category. From there, four finalists were chosen based on several measures of popularity, including products sales and customer reviews. The finalists were then voted on by you.

Supplements are an integral part of the fitness journey, and there are numerous compelling reasons for taking them. They work best when augmented by a healthy diet and a BodyFit workout plan that suits your goals. So, without further ado, let’s get to the winners.

Brand of the Year: JYM Supplement Science

JYM Supplement Science has been a leading brand since it exploded on the scene in 2013, and it remains hugely popular and widely respected on Bodybuilding.com and throughout the industry. It’s rare for the face of a brand to be the brains behind it as well, but Jim Stoppani, Ph.D., is JYM’s founder, formulator, training expert, on-camera talent, social media champion—you name it. Customers are confident that all JYM products are science-backed and both gym-tested and Jim-tested.

Product of the Year: JYM Supplement Science Pre JYM

Pre Jym

JYM Supplement Science won eight categories for 2020, including product of year for its popular Pre JYM pre-workout. Pre JYM promotes muscle growth, blood flow, increased energy, strength, and endurance, all allowing for longer, more intense workouts.* The 13 science-backed ingredients are fully dosed based on the latest research. It’s all about science and transparency, and JYM remains an industry benchmark on both fronts.

Breakout Brand of the Year: Alpha Lion

Alpha Lion came roaring out of the gate in 2018, with great products and inspiring videos and articles courtesy of co-founder Troy Adashun. The cornerstone of this brand is kaizen, the Japanese principle of “continuous self-improvement.” Alpha Lion seeks to improve continuously as a supplement brand and wants the very same thing for customers like you. Your success is their success.

Breakout Product of the Year: Kaged Muscle Pre Kaged Stim Free

Pre Kaged Stim Free supercharges workout performance without any caffeine jitters. If you’re a workout night owl, Pre Kaged Stim Free is the go-to for training without messing up your sleep and recovery. The pump factor comes from a massive 6.5-gram dose of pure fermented citrulline.* As a bonus, this pre-workout delivers a proprietary blend of fruit and veggie superfoods totaling 100 milligrams of antioxidants.

Brand MVP of the Year: Jim Stoppani, Ph.D.

Given that JYM Supplement Science was voted brand of the year, it should come as no surprise that the brand’s founder and namesake was voted favorite brand spokesperson or athlete for 2020. Stoppani received his doctorate in exercise physiology from the University of Connecticut and served as a postdoctoral research fellow at Yale University School of Medicine. He’s been personally involved in many of the studies he cites. So, yeah, he knows his stuff.

Exclusive Product of the Year: JYM Supplement Science Pre JYM Orange Mango

“Exclusive” means products and flavors that can only be found here on Bodybuilding.com. This year’s winner was the Orange Mango flavor of JYM’s top-selling, cutting-edge pre-workout Pre JYM. The only thing better than knowing your pre-workout is science-backed and effective is having it taste like dessert as it slides down.

Protein of the Year: JYM Supplement Science Pro JYM

Pro Jym

A high-quality protein powder should be a staple for any fitness enthusiast, and according to you, Pro JYM from JYM Supplement Science is the top dog for 2020. Each scoop includes four types of protein: whey protein isolate, micellar casein, milk protein isolate, and egg white protein. Since these proteins are released into the body at different rates, your muscles are being fed growth food long after you drink the shake.* The flavors include Chocolate Cookie Crunch, Rocky Road, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Tahitian Vanilla Bean.

Pre-Workout Product of the Year: JYM Supplement Science Pre JYM

JYM for the hat trick! Since Pre JYM won product of the year, obviously it took top honors in the pre-workout category, too.

Weight-Loss Product of the Year: JYM Supplement Science Shred JYM

Science’s 2020 dominance continues with a win in the weight-loss category. A science-based combination of six synergistic ingredients, Shred JYM includes 500 milligrams of green tea extract, 1,500 milligrams of acetyl L-carnitine, and 20 milligrams of synephrine. This killer combo wages war on stubborn body fat while also increasing energy and improving focus.* Nearly 700 reviewers rate this product 8.5 out of 10 on average.

Testosterone Support Product of the Year: Signature Testosterone Booster

Signature Testosterone Booster

Testosterone is the primary muscle-building hormone, but its influence doesn’t end there; it’s also fundamental in determining fat distribution, bone density, and muscle strength. Sometimes, as men age, their T levels need a bit of a spot. Signature Test combines natural, clinically studied ingredients shown to support healthy testosterone levels. One of those key ingredients is 600 milligrams of KSM-66, a form of ashwagandha, an increasingly popular adaptogen, to help your body deal with normal stressors—including the stress of intense training.*

Recovery Product of the Year: Xtend Original BCAA

Pre-workout and post-workout nutrition are important, but so is what you ingest during your workout. The top dog among intra-workout and recovery supps continues to be Xtend Original, an amino acid blend containing 7 grams of branched-chain amino acids to help build muscle and aid recovery once that process begins.* It’s also a great hydration product, including electrolytes, and it has no sugar—actually, no carbs, period. The six delicious flavors include Lemon-Lime Squeeze, Italian Blood Orange, and Tropic Thunder.

Creatine of the Year: Kaged Muscle C-HCl

Athletes across sports take creatine to get better results from their training as well as better recovery between sessions. Kaged Muscle C-HCl uses the only patented form of creatine hydrochloride, an increasingly popular choice because it needs no loading phase and immediately begins contributing to the project of making you bigger and stronger.* It comes in lemon lime, if you want to use it as a water flavoring, or unflavored, so it blends seamlessly into your protein shake.

Natural Product of the Year: Natural Isopure

One of the supplement industry’s more powerful trends in recent years has been the emergence of products made from all-natural ingredients. For example, Natural Isopure is sweetened with only cane sugar and monk fruit, a small green melon named for the Chinese monks who were the first to cultivate it.

Even so, its natural sourcing doesn’t come at the expense of its effectiveness. Isopure Natural packs 50 grams of 100 percent whey protein, along with healthy helpings of vitamins and minerals. It also contains no fat, lactose, or gluten.

Immune Support Product of the Year: Signature Probiotic

Signature Probiotic

Signature nabs its second award in the category of immune support. Signature Probiotic supports healthy digestion by delivering three beneficial bacteria strains to the human gut. Each serving contains 10 billion colony-forming units (CFU), and due to its unique packaging, it is effective with or without refrigeration. The average customer rating for this product is nearly perfect at 9.6 out of 10. Take one capsule daily with a meal, and your gut will thank you.

Mass Gainer of the Year: Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass

The days when mass gainers went down like liquid cement are long gone, as evidenced by this year’s winner, Optimum Nutrition Serious Mass. It may be the fastest, most efficient way there is to down 1,250 calories (gulp) in a single serving. This is the product for those of you trying to break out of hard-gainer hell.

Men’s Product of the Year: JYM Supplement Science Alpha JYM

“At 50-plus years old, my own testosterone has certainly dropped from the levels I had as a younger man,” says Jim Stoppani, Ph.D. “I formulated Alpha JYM for healthy adult males who want a real, fully-loaded natural testosterone support product.” Alpha JYM contains six ingredients, provided in efficacious doses, to optimize healthy testosterone levels, build muscle mass, boost strength, drop body fat, and gain a competitive edge naturally.*

Women’s Product of the Year: Sports Research Collagen Peptides

Made from 100 percent pure hydrolyzed gelatin from pasture-raised cows sourced from Brazil, Sports Research Collagen Peptides are enzymatically processed several times, leaving the peptides intact and resulting in a neutral-tasting, highly available protein. Hydrolyzed for easy digestion, this product was created to support healthy joints and skin.* Since Sports Research Collagen Peptides are unflavored and water-soluble, they’re easy to mix in coffee, protein shakes, and soups.

Most Innovative Product of the Year: ATP Gutright Daily

ATP Gutright Daily

The goal of ATP Gutright Daily is to bring your gut microbiome into balance. The gut microbiome is made up of trillions of bacteria, viruses, and fungi, and all sorts of things can throw it out of whack, including aging, stress, antibiotics, and a poor diet. This product is loaded with beneficial compounds from peels, seeds, and skins that often go missing in today’s Western diet. Gutright Daily aims to restore your gut microbiome to its healthy glory.*

Flavor of the Year: JYM Supplement Science Pro JYM Vanilla Peanut Butter Swirl

Our customers rhapsodize about the bull’s-eye Team JYM scored with this scrumptious flavor. Chelsay writes, “The vanilla peanut butter swirl is the BEST flavor! It turns into a really good pancake too. I hate giving this a good review because that means it will sell out faster, but gotta give credit where credit’s due!” Adds kazix666, “It mixes well! The vanilla peanut butter swirl is my new favorite for my oat-protein morning breakfast.”

Bar of the Year: Quest Nutrition Quest Bar

Few brands have done as much as Quest to make supplements double as delicious portable snack foods, which may explain why the company changed hands for a billion dollars in 2019.

Each Quest bar contains at least 20 grams of protein and 2 grams or less of sugar. The 12 flavors include Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Maple Waffle, and Rocky Road. Bodybuilding.com customers rate these products an impressive 9.3 out of 10.
