Men over 40… are you looking for a back workout that you can do at home with only dumbbells? Well I have a great back workout for you men over 40, using nothing but dumbbells. At the end of the 5 exercises in this back workout, I am going to give you one of my favorite exercises that I know you have never done before. Let’s get started with this complete back workout for men over 40 with dumbbells.

Exercise #1: DUMBBELL PULLOVER. If you are working out at home and you don’t have a bench, that is okay. You do not need a bench to be able to do this workout. Have a bench, gives a slightly better range of motion. In this exercise, get a good stretch and squeeze your lats at the top.
Exercise #2: DUMBBELL LAWNMOWER ROW. I want you to mimic the motion of starting a lawnmower in this exercise. You want to initial the movement with your elbow, and drive it back.
Exercise #3: DUMBBELL DEADLIFT. Anytime you are doing a heavy compound movement, really focus on utilizing good form. Hinge at the hips first, and focus on pulling with your back. Make sure not to turn this into a dumbbell squat, keep your hips tall and pull the weight.
Exercise #4: DUMBBELL ROWS. Drive back with the elbows and squeeze at the top of the contraction.
Exercise #5: DUMBBELL LAT SLIDE. This exercise works your lats the same way Pull Ups would. Focus on your mind muscle connection and feel the stretch in your lats at the start. Control the weight with your lats and try to have a 5 second contraction. Make sure to drive with your elbows in this exercise. (Aim for 20-25 reps of this unique exercise to finish off this complete back workout for men over 40 at home.

These are all great exercises for a complete back workout for men over 40 with dumbbells at home. Aim for 3 sets of 10-12 reps in this back workout. This is a great back workout because you can do it at home or at the gym, and all you need are dumbbells.
